ABOUT BODYWALKS

BodyWalks is a reflection, creation and research project about inhabiting bodies through territory, developed since 2009 by the dancers Guy Leon and Helena Pellisé. As dancers we aim to develop our movement through both the practical and theoretical aspects of walking. We share this practice by walks, site-specific performance and workshops.

The different aspects from which we approach this walk are:
  1. Walking as contemplative dance. Using the walk to open our perceptions and find motive - without resistance or doubt  - to move, to dance, to improvise, to inhabit the territory. "The further we go the wider the path".
  2. Landscape as a stage. Each landscape naturally moves us another way, what is it about the landscape that moves me? What is it between us that moves the landscape? How do I communicate it? And then what do I keep from such an experience and which form does it take?
  3. Anatomy of the walk. Getting to know our personal walk (noticing my weight, locating tensions in the body, my breathing...), embodying another´s  walk, challenging walks...
  4. Context. Thought around walking as an artistic form: bibliography, articles, inspirations, collaborators ...
